What we learnt from Cloud Expo Europe 2023, but did you?

The ET Works stand at Cloud Expo Europe 2023, in partnership with Nutanix and Assured Data Protection (powered by Rubrik), was a hive of activity and not just because of the Cadbury chocolate bars, ADP water bottles and Nutanix thermo-flasks (they did help a little). Read on to discover some our own key learnings from the event.

London, March 21 2023- Cloud Expo Europe is an annual event that brings together leading experts and professionals in the cloud computing industry to share their insights, experiences and knowledge about the latest trends, innovations and solutions in the cloud space.

As this year’s event has now wrapped up, the joint team from ET Works, Nutanix and Assured Data Protection (powered by Rubrik) have offered some views and key takeaways from the event;

1. The importance of hybrid cloud environments

One of the main themes that emerged from Cloud Expo Europe 2023 was the growing importance of hybrid cloud environments. As more organisations move towards cloud-based solutions, they are finding that a hybrid approach that combines both public and private cloud resources is the best way to achieve their goals. This allows companies to take advantage of the benefits of both types of cloud services, while also maintaining control over their data and applications.

2. The rise of edge computing

Another trend that was highlighted is the growing importance of edge computing. Edge computing involves processing data at the edge of a network, rather than sending it to a central datacentre for processing. This can help to reduce latency and improve performance for applications that require real-time processing, such as IoT devices, self-driving cars, and other mission-critical systems.

3. The importance of security in the cloud

As more organisations move their data and applications to the cloud, security is becoming an increasingly important concern. At Cloud Expo Europe 2023, several experts emphasized the need for strong security measures in the cloud, including encryption, access controls, and monitoring tools. They also stressed the importance of regularly testing and updating security protocols to ensure that they remain effective over time.

4. The impact of AI and machine learning on the cloud

AI and machine learning are becoming increasingly important in the cloud computing space. Several speakers discussed how these technologies are being used to automate processes, improve performance, and enhance security in the cloud. They also highlighted the growing importance of data analytics in the cloud, and the need for tools that can help organisations make sense of the large volumes of data they are generating.

5. The need for continued innovation and collaboration

Finally, the event highlighted the need for continued innovation and collaboration in the cloud computing industry. As new technologies emerge and the needs of businesses evolve, it is important for industry leaders to work together to develop new solutions and best practices. This requires a commitment to ongoing learning and sharing of knowledge, as well as a willingness to collaborate with others in the industry to drive innovation and progress.

Overall, we feel that this year’s event highlighted several key trends and insights that are shaping the future of cloud computing. From the importance of hybrid cloud environments to the rise of edge computing and the growing role of AI and machine learning. As the industry evolves, it is clear that ongoing innovation, collaboration, and a focus on security and data analytics will continue to be critical to all businesses.
